We took the kids to the beach, not thinking it was warm enough to swim, we were just going for a look and a walk in the arvo, silly us. The first thing they did was get in the water, in the nickers! They had a ball, and said it wasn't even cold.

We spent a morning researching Fraser Island and getting supplies, especially a tent, no way we could take our big van over there. We gathered all the necessary bits and pieces then headed to Inskip Point to check out the barge we would go on the next day. We were slightly nervous about driving on Fraser, had been told that the sand was pretty soft at the moment. We were trying to reassure ourselves by going to watch others getting on the barge. Only problem was that the first car we saw head through the sand to the barge got completely stuck, it had to be towed out by a land cruiser. I was worried, but Mark reassured me that the guy was a bad driver with a crap 4wd!
Mark pondering the barge, or looking longingly at Fraser, not sure?? |
Checking out where the car got bogged, didn't take a photo of them stuck, didn't think that would go down well! |
Rainbow Beach is famous for obviously its Rainbow Beach. It has these gorgeous sand cliffs that are all these incredible colours from white to ochre. There are 74 different colours there apparently. We took the Land cruiser for a spin on the beach and collected some bottles of sand. It was lots of fun, and the bottles look fabulous, except Jake's as he insisted on stirring his and shaking it up!!!
Rainbow Beach is a great spot, we plan to spend some more time here after going to Fraser Island. Next stop the ever anticipated Fraser Island, we're pretty excited!!
