We are on a bit of a tight budget at times so we try to free or cheap camp as much as possible. The Blundells and us found a good spot at 40 mile and set up for a few days. We had a walk along the beach, collected some shells and took some pictures. The next day we had a drive around and explored the area.
We spent a day in Karratha and Dampier looking about, and that was plenty. For a mining area, its pretty nice one but not the place to spend anytime on whilst on holiday. Our favourite part of town was checking out the Red Dog statue and seeing the mining company's info centre. But that's about it.
Some big ass trucks and loads we've been seeing on the road |
After doing a couple of hikes and exploring the homestead we went to Deep Creek for a picnic lunch. This would be a great place in summer, bit cold now. Of course Mark had a very quick swim and soon jumped out!
One of our favourite parts of the day was the drive to Python pool. There were some magic views of the landscape. We walked in to Python pool and after much encouragement we all hoped in and had a swim. But of course it was bloody freezing!! But you have to do these things.
That's about it for 40 mile, we basically spent a day in Karratha, a day doing washing and a day at Millstream. So just a wee little blog this time. The next one will be big, its Karijini, getting excited now!
