De Grey River, Cape Keraudren and 80 Mile Beach

We began the drive to Broome and had a few stop overs on the way.  Our first being a free camp at the De Grey River.  We managed to score a fab spot right on the rivers edge, its a really pretty spot.  We ended up staying two nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We did a little school, had a walk around the drier areas of the river and of course had plenty of time for camp fires.  Luckily the kids got very good at finding rather large logs of wood and dragging them home.  We cooked our dinner in the camp oven in the hot coals and toasted a few marshies.  One night the kids went and had a jam with the camp next door, a very cool concert!

We were sad to leave De Greys, we'd have been happy enough to stay few more days but we needed to head north.  Next stop was Cape Keraudren, but ended up only staying one night.  Its a pretty spot right on the beach, and fairly cheap.  But we just kinda felt like we needed to keep moving.  We had a lovely walk on the beach, and found Vik and Craig and the kids.  Then we sat and had some nibblies, watched the sunset and went to bed.  I set my alarm for sunrise the next day to bet everyone else for any good shells that may have washed up over night.  Mark and the kids woke up too so ended up with all of us out looking.  Found a nice collection of shells unfortunately the really big shells all seemed to have broken parts.  Still it was really nice being out so early on the beach.

Our last stop before Broome was Eighty Mile Beach.  As we drove there the rain started and kept going most of the day.  We ended up spending the day inside with the heater on playing board games.  It didn't last at least and the next day the sun shone and everything dried up nicely.  We spent the day walking on the beach, driving on the beach and fishing at high tide.  No luck with the fishing though.  A very pretty spot at least.

We couldn't decide what to do after leaving 80 mile.  We wanted to spend a few days at Barn Hill but we also wanted to see the Staircase to the Moon in Broome and you have to be there on a full moon.  We decided to leave Barn Hill for another time and went straight to Broome.
